All your customers are not the same.

So here’s the tea…I work in aviation. Yes, that fancy job where people clap when the plane lands (please talk to your aunties to stop this habit).

Now, after years of working in this industry, I just had one of those Aha! moments that hits you mid-flight while at 35,000 feet.

It all happened last week when Uganda Airlines launched its direct flight from Entebbe to London.

✔️ Same plane.

✔️ Same distance.

✔️ Same pilot.

✔️ Same air turbulence.

But here’s the kicker: passengers didn’t pay the same.

✔️ Economy class? About UGX 3M.

✔️ Business class? About UGX 8M.

Wait, WHAT? Yes.

They’re all breathing the same cabin air, but business class is sipping on white wine & eating marinated prawns, while the guy in economy is gnawing on a dry sandwich.

Let me break it down:

✔️ Business class checks in first.

✔️ They sit in wide, luxurious seats – the kind your ancestors would call a throne.

✔️ They’re served three-course meals while you are choking on your sandwich in economy class.

✔️ They get real cutlery, not plastic that breaks when you touch chicken.

✔️ When they board, they close a curtain on you so you don’t disturb their inner peace.

And when you land, guess who leaves the plane first? Yup, not you.

Both sets of passengers are going to London. Same destination, different experience.

📌 Not all customers are the same. I mean, I always knew that, but this time it clicked. Now, think about your small business.

❌ Stop Selling Just a Product.

✔️ Start Selling experiences.

Let’s bring this to your hustle…

You sell kids’ clothes?
  • Economy Class Offer: UGX 25k – simple outfit. Functional.
  • Business Class Offer: UGX 175k – gift box with the outfit, personalized embroidery, matching headband, handwritten “Welcome to the World” note, & maybe even baby’s name in glitter.

✅ One is for the shopper.

✅ The other is for the auntie trying to outshine all the other aunties at the baby shower.

You bake cakes?
  • Economy Class Cake: UGX 50k – round cake, basic icing. Tastes good.
  • Business Class Cake: UGX 350k – themed cake, matching cupcakes, delivery, candles, party poppers & fav song played by a saxophonist.

✅ Don’t just sell cake.

✅ Sell an experience that the birthday girl will post 47 times on Instagram.

The Airlines Got It Right. They don’t cry if no one books business class.

Those seats stay EMPTY… just to show you what you could have had if you were rich.

That’s what you need to do.Let people CHOOSE their experience.

✅ Add luxury.

✅ Add extras.

✅ Create tiers.

✅ Create layers in your offer.

And the best part? The fancier option doesn’t cost you that much more to create – but it lets you charge 2X, 3X, even 5X more.

Because people don’t just pay for what you offer.

They pay for how it makes them feel. Because once you stop selling just the product & start selling the experience, price becomes a suggestion, not a barrier.
